referee mentor program
Westy Soccer is excited to announce that we will be continuing our Referee Mentor Program. This program is designed for Westy Soccer players, ages 12 years and older, who are interested in becoming soccer referees. Participants will have the opportunity to be trained, evaluated, and mentored as a soccer referee. It is not necessary for participants to be certified as soccer referees in order to be involved in this program. If your child is just starting out and would like to become a referee, or if your child is youth certified but has not been through a professional mentoring program, then this may be a great way for him or her to learn and develop through a nurturing, professional approach.
The program will be available on game days for U9-U14 recreational games. This is a great chance for our players to gain experience in a formal, safe and monitored environment. Experience and success in this program can also lead to further referee opportunities within our program. We also encourage referees to get certified through Colorado Soccer and US Soccer, which they can do after they turn 13. For more information on that process, please click here.
Becoming a soccer referee is a chance for your child to give back to the soccer community, and become a great role model for younger players. Many youth from our club who have become soccer referees have developed skills such as increased confidence, higher level of responsibility, improved decision making ability, in addition to earning a steady stream of income.
