Hello to all families who have pre-registered for Westy Soccer tryouts.
We have just become aware of an email sent by Rapids North stating that Westy Soccer will not be allowed to play in CSA competitive leagues, and that CSA has confirmed this.
This is quite simply not true. CSA has left any dispute between Rapids and Westy to the two clubs to work out.
Additionally, the claim that Westy is a “rec only” club is not true, as there is no distinction between recreational and competitive clubs in CSA rules and bylaws.
When the asset purchase of Westminster AFC by Rapids occurred, the recreational portion of the club did remain separate, and under Westminster AFC’s club sanctioning. Because of these facts, we are good to go for the upcoming competitive soccer year.
We are excited to offer another program from which you can choose. We are also committed to working together with Rapids North on field space and look forward to a professional and working relationship moving forward. However, our community deserves more and that is what we intend to offer!
We understand that you have many options when it comes to soccer in the area and appreciate your faith in us.
We look forward to seeing the 600+ players who are excited about an alternative option at our tryouts this Week.
