Westy Soccer Club is extremely excited to introduce two quality coaches to our permanent staff! Stephan Tallman has been hired in a full time role as Director of Soccer Programming and Greg Borchers will join us in a part time capacity as our Mental Performance Coach. Both Stephan and Greg officially start with our team Monday, July 1.
Stephan will work with current staff to coordinate all soccer programming throughout the year, specifically during the winter months with indoor training, camps, leagues and futsal. Stephan will also support Rich Dell to help build a player development pathway from Recreational Travel teams to Academy teams and into our Competitive programs. Stephan will continue to work with the Standley Lake High School soccer teams throughout the year.
Greg will work closely with all Academy and Competitive players, coaches and parents to ensure consistency when teaching psychological techniques to players. With the alignment of kids and adults, there will be a higher likelihood of similar messages and teachings being sent to our student athletes. This will increase performance on the field and overall enjoyment for our players and their families. Greg has just completed his PHD in Performance Psychology with an emphasis in sports performance. He will begin pre-season meetings with Westy teams and families in August, followed by further meetings during and after each season.
“Both Stephan and Greg have been involved with soccer in our community for almost 30 years combined,” Executive Director Paul Mulvany said. “I am excited for Doctor Greg to get started with something he has worked very hard on for several years, and for Stephan to be a part of our full time team doing something he has put his heart and soul into for many years. Stephan and Greg are not only close friends to myself and our staff, but they are locals in our region and care about our players and families experiences, be it with our Recreational community or our Competitive teams.”
